January 14th, 2025: We’re thrilled to welcome everyone who has been selected to join Project Pantheon’s first Closed Alpha test! This marks an exciting milestone in development, and while this first Closed Alpha test is primarily a technical trial, aimed at ensuring our backend systems, server infrastructure, and community channels are ready to support future testing, you’ll also get a small glimpse of gameplay to explore and enjoy:
A Glimpse of Your Player Base
Though the actual player base is still under construction, we’ve created a functional menu flow to give you access to key features. In this early version, you’ll find:
- A stash to store your items.
- A shop offering basic gear at low costs using free in-game currency.
- A portal for traveling and diving into the action.
As the base evolves, expect even more exciting additions in future builds.
Exploring the First Map
We’ve built the basic layout of our first map to test core mechanics. While it’s still in its early stages, gameplay elements and placements will go through several iterations. Join us during gameplay sessions to explore and offer feedback as we refine the map.

Your Pre-Made Character
For this test only, you’ll use a pre-made character equipped with the essentials for an action RPG, including:
- Dynamic camera angles and fog-of-war to heighten tension.
- Stats, in-session leveling, and inventory/equipment slots.
- Quality of life features such as targeting assistance, action input queuing, control remapping, and animation cancellation.
Character creation is obviously planned for future updates, but for now, enjoy this foundation of what’s to come.
Movement Options
We’re testing two movement models for controlling your character:
- WASD/twin stick controls for a modern feel.
- Point-and-click controls for those who prefer a classic aRPG approach.
Currently, the WASD/twin stick model is more polished, and we recommend using it during this test.

Innovative Itemization
Itemization is a core pillar of Project Pantheon. Here’s what sets it apart:
- Your gear defines your “build,” making extractions incredibly rewarding.
- Weapons provide a template of abilities, functioning as a soft class.
- Additional gear adds unique mechanics:
- Boots offer extra defensive abilities.
- Artifacts unlock powerful ultimate abilities.
- Other gear enhances stats and will include unique mechanics in future builds.
Currently, items drop in a fixed state, but we plan to introduce a crafting system to let you modify and enhance your gear.
Mythological Factions and Encounters
The first map features a faction from one of our mythologies. While they weren’t intended to be the sole guardians of this map, they’ll serve as your primary encounters for now. Keep an eye out for a surprise appearance from the Nightmare of Fenrir, lurking somewhere in the shadows.
PvPvE Combat
In the world of Project Pantheon, even agents of Death aren’t exempt from competition. Death values survival of the fittest, so clashes between players are encouraged. Whether you battle NPCs or other players, every encounter is an opportunity to prove your strength.

An Early Build Means Bugs
As this is an early Alpha, bugs are to be expected. While we’ve worked hard to stabilize this version for a fun experience, we know there’s plenty of squashing ahead. Your feedback will be crucial in helping us identify and resolve issues as we continue development.
We’re excited to have you on this journey with us. Your participation and insights will play a vital role in shaping the future of Project Pantheon. Don’t forget to share your thoughts and experiences with us and join our Discord—we’re listening!
Good luck and see you in the Afterlife!
